Once again, this competition serves proof as to why Code as an alliance, will always be beneath Helicity Boson and not worthy of sniffing his boots never mind being granted permission to polish them.
Cut through the jargon, and this "competition" is ultimately a drive to blow up new players fresh out of the starter systems in the hope of tears.
You're welcome to argue i'm wrong in my assessment.
You might get the odd newbie (and if I do, I will make certain to tell them where they can get their next free Venture from running one of the career agents they haven't run). I'm pretty sure most CODE. people will do the same, and I'd encourage non-CODE. participants to also do this. Those newbies are not the target.
Ventures are the #1 most common ship banned for botting according to CCP Security figures released at last Fanfest.
If it is tears you want, you don't shoot new players - they tend to just express confusion. You should instead shoot career highsec players in 0.8 and higher systems. That is where the finest vintage of tears comes from - the 3 year old character who is "peacefully mining".
AC - Can you state in the OP a reminder that rookie systems are off limits, as are gates leading into them (e.g. the Vittenyn side of the Vittenyn-Trossere gate)? CODE. pilots will (probably) all know this, but the people we really want this contest to appeal to - 0-6 month old players with no experience in PVP, ganking or otherwise - may not know that they will get slapped by CCP if they pop Ventures in those systems.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to post a fit or two for just those rookies that want to Venture into ganking.

It's just good wildlife conservation, like having to wait for Deer Season to shoot Deer... you have to maintain the population at healthy levels to ensure a good harvest for years to come.
I expect the vast, vast majority of kills in this contest to occur in 0.5 and 0.6 systems, because there's more miners there.
If we do accidentally pop the odd legit newbie (and let's face it, accidents happen), we'll be sure to give them information that will help them more than the loss will have hurt them.

In the event that I accidentally kill a new player in this contest (and let's face it, mistakes happen), I will give them a couple of gank-fitted ships they can fly.
Hopefully they'll discover something new in EVE, and most importantly, they discover that they have enough SP to get solo kills already if they choose their targets well. Worst case scenario, they sell it and buy another Venture.
